Monarchs have been few and far between this summer at the Garden, a puzzling phenomena. On recent walks I have spotted a few fluttering about in particular areas of the Garden. The bright and colorful spread of bloodflower milkweed outside the Landscape Garden is always a sure bet for spotting Monarchs.
The pods of the bloodflower milkweed are opening and releasing their seeds.
This monarch was enjoying the butterfly bushes in the Crescent Garden.
A leaf in the Crescent Garden, backlit by the afternoon sun, made for a interesting composition of light and shadow.
